TFP In A Nutshell
The Fugitive Post is a free news magazine dedicated to local and regional news,
features, and resources centered around crime. We inform readers about crime, its
impact on their communities and culture and how they can better protect
themselves against it. We tell our stories from the perspective of the people directly
involved in and directly affected by crime.
On a lighter side, we review legislation ideas, forensic technology, opinions,
personal success stories, and the "how to" about crime related safety issues. Its
crime-awareness message informs and entertains the public, while its unique
extensive coverage helps individuals and communities fight crime.
TFP is free to readers, with a monthly circulation of 25,000 copies distributed
throughout the Austin Metro area and is solely funded by local advertisers.
WHO WE ARE
The Fugitive Post is a free community-based newsmagazine. It aims to inform
people in our communities about crime and safety issues that affect us all. Our
writing staff is experienced, insightful, and “in the know” about what matters most to
Austin metro residents.
WHAT WE DO
The articles in the Fugitive Post offer timely, in-depth information about what is
happening crime-wise at the community, legal and public policy levels. By picking
up a copy of The Fugitive Post, readers are not only getting informed how to
protect themselves; they are also getting better acquainted with the individuals
and organizations in greater Austin who are working to make us all safer.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND INSIDE
We offer more than just mugshots and composites of fugitives. We are here to be
the empowering link between law enforcement agencies, anti-crime organizations
and law-abiding citizens. We know that we must have content that is entertaining
and informative. To that effect, we emphasize the latest crime news along with
special sections that give the reader an inside look into criminal law, policy,
technology and those in the community trying to affect change or taking a stand
against the criminal element.
WHERE YOU’LL FIND US
Published every month on a web press, the newspaper will be distributed to more
than 300 locations throughout the Austin metro area, with a total of 25,000 papers
being circulated. Look for us in public libraries, colleges, coffee shops, medical
offices, convenience stores, government buildings and much more.
WHY WE DO IT
Statistics continue to show that crime affects all of us, whether physically,
emotionally or financially. Regardless of age, sex or background we put ourselves
at risk by not being informed.
Victims of crime often feel powerless because they don’t know how the system
works, or who can help them. Our aim at The Fugitive Post is to close the
knowledge gap in our communities by getting people to think about the issues that
concern all of us.
A nationwide study on news preferences conducted before The Fugitive Post hit
the shelves found that the general rating for the effectiveness of crime news was a
meager 73 percent, leaving a robust 27 percent room for improvement.
The information in The Fugitive Post is always fresh and up to date. This is
important because to truly understand how to protect ourselves, our children and
our neighbors, we must start by being better informed.
HOW WE ARE SUPPORTED
The Fugitive Post is an independent, privately owned publication. That means that
we use no tax money, and answer only to our readers.
We are solely supported by local businesses who advertise their products and
services in our monthly issues. By successfully obtaining this level of advertising
support, we can improve our growth within the community and in surrounding
areas. We aim to continue introducing fresh new editorial features, stories, articles,
and resources to our readers.
In addition, we will continue to sponsor the organizations and law enforcement
agencies that provide the community with the information necessary for their
protection. By working toward a productive dialogue between law enforcement
agencies and the community we’ll be armed with the tools to fight back at crime
from the safety of their homes.
GETTING INVOLVED
We can’t be a successful link between the public and the lawmakers if we don’t ask
to hear from our readers. Write to us and tell us what you think. We want to know
what you think of the content and which topics you feel deserve coverage in future
issues - we’ll always consider a new story idea.
The community also has a chance to participate by assisting law enforcement
through identification of any of the individuals whose photos are posted. Law
enforcement agencies can be contacted anonymously through Crimestoppers’ 24-
hour tip hotline. This agency offers rewards of as much as $1,000 for any tip
leading to an arrest.
The Fugitive Post is completely self funded by the owners and Advertisers. If you are interested in supporting The Fugitive Post through either personal or business advertisements, please contact our sales department: sales@thefugitivepost.com
